Father's Day 2009 was a quiet day. After a few hours at the bakery making muffins and sourdough starters, we loaded everyone up and went out to Boone Lake. Everyone had a good time just swimming and relaxing. Cassidy got to use her "Dora" float, Mattie and Timmy got to show off doing flips off the rope. Paul got his yearly sunburn, and dozed by the water.

Grand Opening Day
Ribbon Cutting for Wm Paul's Bakery
June 16,2009
Tuesday was the big day. The newest edition to Downtown Kingsport, Wm Paul's Bakery is a family owned business that has been in operation for four weeks.
Paul was so nervous, having forty people in a 600 square foot building was a little tight. He has opened many hotels and such but this was the first business of his own. The Chamber of Commerce, the press and many local patrons were on hand for the ceremonies. Mama Jo and Grandaddy came up from Knoxville (Grandaddy loved the biscuits and gravy) and assited with the cutting.

Long Lost Family
I am slipping, I missed posting a very important event. Two weeks ago we were lucky enough to have a visit from Paul's cousins. They are the children of Mama Jo's sister "Ocky". Robert, Mark and Karen came out from California to see everyone. Robert's daughter Samantha came with them. She and Cassidy hit it right off. They played outside the bakery, painting little ceramics that Kasey bought them. Robert and Mark are retired Navy. They were very interested in the bakery and all the different equipment. They had fun teasing Paul about things in his childhood they remembered. Karen was enchanting, she was very sweet to everyone and is such a kind person. Grandaddy drove them up and got to see the bakery in action for training. It was great to have them here and we hope they can come again. The pictures are of everyone that came.

The doors are open, come on in!
Everything is under way. Bread is baked, danish is rolled, cookies are done, cakes are decorated. Monday, Paul will be on the radio, and June 16 he will have the grand ribbon cutting opening. All the kids work at the bakery, including older ones that have moved out of the house. Two fifteen in the morning comes pretty early for us old people but we are doing it.
